Recycling Bins Around Town

The City has six locations where residents can drop off their recyclables. These locations are available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These containers are checked by Recycling Center staff frequently and hauled to the Recycling Center.

At the Recycling Center the items are sorted and baled. Staff from the Solid Waste Division also check these locations periodically for illegal dumping and clean the surrounding areas from debris left outside the containers.

The locations are:

• Fareway, 310 Mckenzie Avenue

• Hy-Vee, 1745 Madison Avenue

• Hy-Vee, 1706 North 16th Street

• No Frills, 1801 Valley View

• Super Saver, 1141 North Broadway

• Wal-Mart, 3200 Manawa Drive

The following materials are accepted at these locations:

• Paper: junk mail, magazines, newsprint (everything that comes with a Sunday paper)

• Plastics: #1 and #2 only (pop and water bottles, milk jugs, laundry detergent, shampoo bottles)

• Glass: clear, brown and green from food and beverage containers, window glass

• Aluminum and metal food and beverage containers

• Carbdoard (only at Hy-Vee, 1706 North 16th Street and No Frills, 1801 Valley View)

• NO trash or plastic bags
