Red River Refuse and Recycling Collection

The City of Council Bluffs has a contract with Red River Waste Solutions, Inc. for residential solid waste and recycling curbside collection services. Red River provides the following services through this contract:

• Limited weekly residential collections of solid waste; 3 32-gallon cans or 1 Poly-Cart of trash (60 pounds maximum for cans, 30 pounds for bags)

• Unlimited residential curbside recycling (Items need to be separated into Blue and Green Weeks. See the link below for a calendar of the curbside recycling collection schedule.)

• Unlimited weekly yard waste collection from April 1st to November 30th

• Weekly backdoor collection for the elderly and handicapped

• Monthly curbside bulky waste collection; call Red River for an appointment at 256-2288

• Curbside oil collection (2 gallons per household per month)

Yard Waste Guidelines (April 1-Nov. 30)

• Set out your yard waste by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. You may set it out as early as 7:00 p.m. the evening prior to collection. There are no set times for collection.

• Place yard waste in a regular garbage can, City-approved Poly-cart or paper yard waste bags. Mark containers with a "Y" or place an orange yard waste sticker (obtained at the Recycling Center or Health Department) on each can or bag.

• Yard waste placed in plastic bags will not be collected.

• Gather limbs and branches into bundles no more than four feet in length, two feet in diameter and 60 pounds in weight; use string or twine to tie the bundles. Do not use wire, nylon or rope.
